How an Emotion Code Session Works: A Simple Explanation


If you’re new to energy healing, the Emotion Code can sound mysterious at first. In reality, an Emotion Code session is gentle, simple, and focused on helping your body release emotional stress that may still be affecting you today.


What Is the Emotion Code?

The Emotion Code is a healing method developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson. It is based on the idea that our bodies can store emotional experiences—especially from stressful or painful events. These stored emotions, called trapped emotions, may contribute to emotional discomfort, mental stress, or even physical tension over time.

An Emotion Code session helps identify and release these trapped emotions so the body can return to a more balanced, natural state.


What Happens During a Session?

An Emotion Code session does not involve talking through your life story or reliving painful memories. Instead, it works with your body’s own intelligence.

  1. Setting an IntentionThe session begins by setting a clear intention to identify and release trapped emotions in a safe and supportive way. You can be fully relaxed and simply present.

  2. Muscle Testing (Energy-Based Yes/No Responses) The practitioner uses a technique called muscle testing to communicate with the body’s subconscious mind. This allows the body to answer simple yes-or-no questions, guiding the practitioner to specific trapped emotions that are ready to be released.

  3. Identifying the Emotion Once a trapped emotion is found, it is identified (for example, sadness, fear, or frustration). You don’t need to consciously remember the event connected to it for the process to work.

  4. Releasing the Emotion The trapped emotion is released by using a magnet or hand to lightly swipe along the body’s energy pathway (often along the spine). This signals the nervous system that it’s safe to let go of that stored emotional energy.


What Does It Feel Like?

Most people find Emotion Code sessions very calm and peaceful. Some notice emotional lightness, mental clarity, or physical relaxation afterward. Others experience subtle changes that unfold over the following days.
